"ooh you know you rock my world
you be boy and I'll be girl
it don't stop until the break of dawn.."

- E. Badu, "Love of My Life"

Now, this may not mean a whole helluva lot to those who don't flow from my era....

But all the true headz will be feelin' me!!!

While (forcibly) cleaning out my garage this weekend, I found my Public Enemy "Fight the Power" on wax (33 ya'll!) circa 1989, on Motown Records!

And, also my EPMD "Business As Usual"
on Columbia Records, 1990.

In addition to my other 33's - Boogie Down Productions, Brand Nubian, Kid n Play, Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, 2 Live Crew, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, and other "classics" which were just pure, beautiful hip-hop music back in the day.

You can't beat it.

The Golden Age of Hip, Hop/Rap, whatever moniker you want to use. I am grateful to have been the generation exposed to it. It was kind of like witnessing Michael Jordan do his Airtastic escapades, or remembering when the space shuttle exploded. You had to be there.

It's one thing to listen after the fact (as old school aficionados would like to do), but I am fortunate to have lived in the generation that knew, that what we were listening to, was something special indeed.

So, hey, gurl, why don't you let ME do you a favor, and take those off of your hands. Girl, I'm NOT tripping, I can keep them at MY house, since you don't have enough space to keep them (that IS what you said, yes?)

Girl, you got what I need! That's a hell of a "pick me up" collection! Sounds like it's time for a par-tay!

BTW, love the new look!

When I'm alone in my room
sometimes I stare at the wall
and in the back of my mind
I hear my conscious call
telling me I need a girl whose
as sweet as a dove
for the forst time in my life
I say I need love....

My sister my sister tell me what the trouble is....

We fight every night
now that's not kosher
I reminisce with bliss
of when we was closer
and wake up to be greeted
by an argument again
You act like you're ten
So immature
I try to concentrate on a cure
and keep lookin' at the front door
Thinkin' if I were to evacuate
You'd probably be
straighter than straight
And wouldn't have so much hate

Main Source, baby! Whaa what!

I know y'all think I'm trying to be funny, and I know there are some supa (no pun intended) frivolous lawsuits going on right now, but I SWARE (yes, I said it that way). THAT:

VH1 Stole my hip hop honors idea. I know I sound like one of those wackos that show up in small claims, but they did though.

My mama told me there is no new thought under the sun, and that's what I get for slacking on broaching the subject with Dre and/or Russ Simmons. Yeah, I had drafted it out that far, too. So what I don't have any notes or any proof. Don't get me started on my C-O-N spiracies, nah!

'Tis all in the mind, my brotha, all in the mind. I don't need to take no notes. :P

Supa: Does that mean that in the near future we can talk m2m since you have Cingular, your #1 favorite wireless provider that's raising the bar? HEHE.

Supa said...

P:

I believe ya. But next time, write that shit down.

And F*CK Cingular AND the bar it's trying to raise! Why you trying to rile me.

I think I'm actually mad at you. I got a gang of wax in my DJ war chest, but I don't have "Fight the Power" on 12".
Do the right thing and donate it to me. I'll do it justice..
